What are the benefits of using Wifi compared to using Bluetooth? I am looking for a system capable of being used by at least two people one at end endof the layout using cordless devices. I was thinking of using a couple of simm free mobile phones. I have one that I no longer use the simm having been moved to an Iphone. There are lots for sale £40-£50.Muchcheaper than say Gaugemaster cordless terminals. Also will I need a license for eah phone as well as the controller.
Thanks Don

Hi Don,
Both WIFI and Bluetooth can support multiple users (about 4) however there is not yet an Android application for the WIFI controller - only Windows or Linux. So I suggest Bluetooth, you just need two Bluetooth modules, or you can use a Windows/Linux PC USB and one Bluetooth module for two person control.

You only need one license, that is for the M3 or M4 processor card you are using, both Bluetooth phones will be able to use the same license.

Thankyou for the response. I think the M4 processor sounds worth the extra. I will start collecting the hardware together. Regards Don

If you build the WIFI version the USB interface is only used to configure the WIFI module after booting the board. The controller commands will not work on the USB interface only via the WIFI interface. You will need to use either the Windows or Linux applications to connect to the WIFI module.

What have you built ? What STM board are you using ? The WIFI version currently does not support analogue potentiometer control. It will from the next version due out later this year.
If you connect via the Windows application, there are LC-DCC controller communication windows available that will display the result from ?VER which is sent automatically after a connect.
